necessarily mean that the people

people behind the wine.
Many companies produce their own
products, whether they’re perfumes,
clothing lines, cookware, furniture,
barbecue sauces or wines, and then
find a famous name to add to the
packaging. there are a few celebrities
however, who are making wine for the
love of it, and are deeply involved in
the development of their eponymous

two wines crafted with the creative
vision of real wine-loving people in the
music business are Mick Fleetwood
Private Cellar Riesling, made by Mick
Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, and
doobie Red, created by Bruce Cohn,
who, in addition to having managed
the doobie Brothers for 35 years, is
also owner of the acclaimed B. R. Cohn Winery.
“I strive to create approachable wines,” says Mick Fleetwood. “Wines that I like, that my friends like, and most importantly wines that most people appreciate. When everyone I know tells me they love my choices, I know I’ve got a great wine.”
Fleetwood partners with different wineries and winemakers, creating varietals he personally likes to drink and share with friends. For his Riesling, he partnered with Firestone vineyard —using grapes from the cool, Riesling-friendly marine climate of Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties.
With its bright, off-dry flavors of apricot, melon and honeysuckle, the slight sweetness of his 2005 Riesling balances its acidity, for a wine as accessible as a catchy tune.
“My signature wines are mellow and easy to drink,” Fleetwood says. “Wine should always be fun, never challenging.”
